Many people describe a sense of inner guidance, a quiet voice that seems to point toward what matters. Some call it the soul; others call it intuition or the heart. Whatever you call it, it can be worth listening to.

Here are some ways that inner sense might show up.

Dreams that linger

Sometimes a dream stays with you. You might reflect on what feelings or themes it brings up. Dreams can be interesting to explore, without needing to treat them as messages.

Noticing patterns

Perhaps you keep noticing the same theme, like a book, a song or a conversation touching on something you’ve been thinking about. This may simply show where your attention is. Noticing it can still prompt useful reflection.

A gut feeling

Sometimes you just sense that something is right or wrong for you. That feeling can be worth pausing for, alongside careful thought.

A recurring thought

A thought that keeps coming back, like a wish to try something new, may be pointing to something you care about.

A sense of restlessness

Feeling restless can sometimes be a sign that something in your life needs attention.

Listen gently

Inner guidance is best explored with curiosity. Reflect on it, talk it over with a friend and make choices that fit your values.

How little is enough

Today, take five quiet minutes to ask yourself, What do I need right now? Notice what comes up.
