You do not need twelve types. You need one you will actually sit with.
The live archive promised incredible benefits — stress, anxiety, sleep, concentration, happiness — then dumped twelve how-tos. I will not. This is a map of named styles. It is not a rank. It is not a syllabus. It is not a 10-day try I grade. Number one is not better than number twelve. Guided is not “for beginners” as a dunk. Transcendental is not a higher floor.
Two neighbours already hold the chairs. How to sit six named methods: 6 meditation methods never to overlook your brain will thank you. A wider menu of named traditions: Spiritual meditation 11 ways to enlighten your mind. Weekday drills: 12 mindfulness exercises to start using daily. This URL does not clone those. Those are the sits. This one is the corridor map.
I write as a public educator. Take one name into the week and leave. If you wanted a guru, an initiation, a paid mantra, a clinic, or a teacher who takes you as a client from this page, this is the wrong door — on purpose. New here? Start here. Who I am: About. Daily practices: Wellness. Inner maps: Metaphysics.
Traditions are named with respect. I do not deliver their syllabi. I do not take 1:1 students. Two minutes is a real practice. Ten is also. A chair you already own is enough. If sitting makes a feeling larger than a rough week, stop. Get help that is allowed to help. The rule sits on Disclaimer. In a crisis, local emergency services, not this inbox.
I will not tell you this treats stress, anxiety, insomnia, or a mood. Keep your clinicians.
Six clusters, not twelve homework sits
I will not paste twelve sits. I will cluster the names. You do not need all six. Pick the one that is loud this Tuesday.
1. A voice in the room 2. A phrase you can repeat 3. What is already here 4. A named programme — named, not taught here 5. A picture, a flame, a map of centres 6. The body already sitting
Mindfulness is not a religion on this site. You can keep the faith you have, or none, and still notice a breath. The live post split “spiritual meditation” as trust that everything happens for a reason. I will not. A hard week is not a lesson I get to issue. Prayer is allowed if prayer is already yours. A Creator line is allowed if that language is already yours. I will not assign a surrender affirmation as homework.
1. A voice in the room
Guided sitting is a recording, or a live voice, that holds the shape so you do not have to invent one. Useful if you are new. Useful if you are not, and the mind wants company. The five ordinary steps already live on their own URL. Use that page. I will not sell an app, and I will not tailor a track to “sleep” or “stress relief” as a treatment I deliver: How to do a guided meditation in 5 steps.
Find a voice you can bear. Skip a voice that talks you into a realm. A phone can play a bell. It cannot sit for you.
2. A phrase you can repeat
Mantra, on this library, is a rope: one phrase so the mind has one job. Traditions use sacred sounds. Beginners sometimes use a plain English line. The sit is on the six-methods menu. I will not assign you a “personal” mantra, and I will not tell you a syllable increases a vibration. Frequency language on this site is a metaphor for attention, not physics.
Loving-kindness — mettā — is a Buddhist compassion practice: a wish of goodwill that does not first check whether the other person has earned it. Named. Phrases, order, and the skip-if-it-distresses rule live on the six-methods page. I will not paste them twice. I will not tell you it decreases anger as a clinic hour.
If you already have a faith, use a line from it with respect. If you have none, a neutral syllable is enough.
3. What is already here
Present-moment sitting, mindfulness, vipassanā, “become the observer” — the live post split these as if they were four products. They are cousins. You notice a breath, a sound, a thought, without putting the moment on trial. Noticing is the method. You have not failed by noticing a thought.
The weekday version is the twelve drills. The named vipassanā sit lives on the six-methods menu. I will not tell you insight means “the true nature of reality is suffering” as a slogan I grade. I name the tradition. I do not deliver a ten-day course from this page.
If open awareness floods you, narrow the object. Breath only. Or stand. Trauma and clinical grief belong with people trained for them. This blog is not your method.
4. A named programme — named, not taught here
Transcendental Meditation is a trademarked programme: a teacher, an assigned mantra, a twice-a-day sit as their house teaches it. I name it with respect. I do not teach it. I do not initiate. I do not send you to a site to buy a mantra. A blog cannot rise you above your current state. That was the live post’s goal language. I dropped it.
If you already have a teacher in that programme, keep them. What you may take without joining anything: a phrase you already have, repeated for two minutes. That is not TM. Kundalini and Kriya stay named, not taught, on the eleven-traditions page. Do not learn advanced breath retentions from a paragraph. If a breathing practice makes you dizzy or odd in the hands, stop.
5. A picture, a flame, a map of centres
Visualisation is an umbrella, not a school. Optional. Attention works without a picture. I will not tell you it manifests what you want. Three ordinary pictures, not a body-mind protocol: 3 visualization techniques to connect body and mind. If a picture becomes a hunt for a cure, feel the feet.
Trataka — gazing — is already on the eleven-traditions page. Do not stare at the sun. This is not a third-eye cleanse. Chakras on this library are a map, not a lab: Chakras a beginners guide to the 7 energy centers. Diagnosing a chakra is not a clinic I run.
6. The body already sitting
Yoga here is not a style I teach from a URL. It is noticing in a posture you already have. I do not run a studio. If the floor is a fight, sit in a chair and feel the soles. Walking as noticing already lives on the twelve-drill page. The body is already speaking, and that essay is not a training protocol: 7 integrated body mind training techniques.
How to choose, and how little is enough
You do not need twelve. You do not need a 10-day trial this page marks. Stay with one cluster long enough to know if the chair fits. If sitting is a fight, walk. If a lineage already has you, practise theirs. This map is not a conversion.
A busy mind is ordinary. Redirecting attention for two minutes is a real practice. Forcing stillness is not the job.
I do not take 1:1 clients. There is no call to book. There is no centre to visit in my name. Leave with one name, or with the chair you already use.

This page is education, not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment plan. I write as Ultimate Wellness, a public educator — not a doctor, not an HPCSA-registered dietitian, and not a therapist. I don’t take 1:1 coaching clients from this library; take one useful idea and use it. If you have a condition, take medication, or need care, please see your own clinician — more on Disclaimer.
